I am so impressed with these amazing self portraits created by amazing kindergarteners! I truly adore how fun and wacky they are. We began by talking about self portraits and drawing our own faces using lines and shapes. Students used sharpies to make their drawings really pop.
Next, we read the book A Bad Case of Stripes and talked about how everybody is different and you should still ought to be nice to them and definitely not laugh at them or bully them.
Kinders used watercolors to paint their faces rainbow stripes just like the girl from the story.
The next week we drew lines and shapes in patterns on big paper with crayons. Painting over it with watercolor created a neat resist. Then the paper was cut up and folded and bent to create a crazy hair day!
